WESLEY HODGES FLYFISHING
My guiding started on the New River and I’ve been exclusively guiding on the New for over 7 years. During my tenure on this river, I’ve put in countless hours casting, rowing, and guiding—learning every mile, bend, and rapid along this ancient waterway. I’ve hand-selected particular stretches of the New River that offer an incredible amount of diversity and healthy Smallmouth Bass populations with fish ranging from 20″ to 25″.
For decades, the New has been revered as the best Smallmouth fishery in Virginia as well as one of the best in the nation. The clear, cool, turquoise water flows under low overhanging branches, big rock outcroppings, long riffles, and deep holes that provide the perfect habitat for Smallmouth Bass to thrive. From the time we put in until the time we load the drift boat on the trailer, it’s non-stop fishing.
