Glen Alton is a 304 acre property in Giles County that was a working farm up until the 1980`s. Majestic trees, open pastures and picturesque buildings create a pastoral setting that invites wandering and evokes memories of a simpler time. This day use area features picnic tables, hiking trails, and wildlife watching opportunities. Area highlights include White Rocks Campground, Potts Rail Trail, Big Stony Creek, and Interior Whistle Stop.

At an elevation of 1800 feet in the mountains of Giles County in Southwest Virginia, JBR Vineyards & Winery passionately produces small quantities of hand-tended classic wine grapes and hand-crafted wines. We are proud to have established the first vineyard and first Virginia Farm Winery in Giles County. Enjoy a unique experience! Must call ahead for appointments.

Directions: From Route 100, turn on to Eggleston Road. Turn right on Bear Springs Road. Keep going through Trigg. Turn right on Springdale Road. Go approximately 3 miles around the big curve and the winery is on the right. There will be signs.

 

Farms, Farmers Markets and Pick-Your-Owns

The Narrows Farmers Market is located on Monroe Street in downtown Narrows.  The Market has several tables already onsite in order to accommodate a number of vendors, a stage area for live entertainment during special events, and clean restroom facilities. The market is open April 1st through October 31st.  Selling days are Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  However, in the spirit of making the market a successful endeavor from both the Town’s and community’s viewpoint, staff will make every effort to make special arrangements with potential vendors wishing to use the facility outside of these days and times.

You-pick blueberries with a wonderful view! Our quality berries are grown using sustainable horticultural methods, with no pesticides. Season is late June through July. Call ahead or check our web site for the best picking times.  This farm is a trail site on the Giles Artisan Trail and is a member of Round the Mountain Artisan Network.
